Vienna's skyline gains a new addition

DC 2 is another landmark building being constructed in D-City. The tower, designed by French architect Dominique Perrault, will provide space for modern offices, shops and rental flats when it is completed.

Originally designed as a twin tower to DC 1, the tower was redesigned by Mr Perrault on the advice of the Advisory Board for Urban Planning and Urban Design and will have an independent face when it is completed in 2026. Wrap-around loggias will contribute greatly to the quality of life and the planned design of the façade with photovoltaic elements will be the first of its kind in a high-rise building in Europe. Modern, flexible office space will be created on 30 floors above a plinth area that will be used for catering and co-working. From a building height of 102 metres, 314 rental flats with different floor plans will be built. Following a successful start to construction with the special civil engineering work in the first quarter of 2022, the floor slab was concreted in autumn 2023, laying the foundation for the height increase. In spring 2024, the wind shield for the building construction work was installed and the floor-by-floor growth can now be easily tracked. In 2026, the 53-storey building will be handed over to the owner Commerz Real, which acquired the development back in 2016 for the open-ended property fund hausinvest.
